T-shirts Unfolding, Canterbury Museum, February – May 2015, Christchurch, New Zealand.

23rd March 2015 | Tags: , , ,

We are super honoured to have a selection of our AnyForty designs in the incredible exhibition that is T-shirts Unfolding curated by our down under pal, the T-shirt megalord Eddie Zammit of T-world  journal fame.

T-shirts Unfolding is staged as part of the  SPECTRUM street art festival, presented by Oi YOU! in partnership with the YMCA and Canterbury Museum in Christchurch, New Zealand

With two venues, eight exhibitions, nine big walls, 16 of the world’s best street artists, 22 Banksy’s and hundreds of T-shirts SPECTRUM promises to be even bigger and better than RISE which attracted 248,000 people to Canterbury Museum last summer, the most viewed exhibition in the Museum’s history.

T-shirts Unfolding showcases everything to do with T-shirt creation, from promotional stickers to swing tags, and books to the tees themselves. The show runs in Canterbury Museum until the 10th of May and is completely free to enter so you’d be a absolute fool not to check it out in the cotton!

Check out the brilliant animated promo for the event by the guys from Mass Motion and scroll down to see a selection of gorgeous photos of the exhibition by Melbourne based Holly Hawkins. Still blows our mind to see AnyForty alongside so many legendary world famous brands, thanks to Eddie Z for always having our back. Always appreciated our friend, and congratulations on another incredible show.

AnyForty Seven Launch Party at Whosit & Whatsit, Newcastle

11th March 2015 | Tags: , , , ,

Yes folks! It’s been a long time since we broke out the auld blog, for those of you who don’t know, we left London back in August last year, relocated back to the motherland, Newcastle Upon-Tyne and have spent the last few months busting our ball sacks on the graft tip.

Since the flip of the new year, we’ve been hard at work getting a incredible range of designs together to celebrate our Seventh Birthday, seven years?! Damn, where has the time gone eh.

It’s quite an achievement for a small independent UK brand to hit the seven year mark so we thought it was something to make a metric-fuck-tonne of noise about, so we’ve created a new range called, you guess it… Seven!

Seven artists from around the world tackling seven deadly sins. It’s an epic collection of wearable art and we can’t wait for you to see it, we’re so proud of it we’d like to invite you to a massive party we’re gonna throw with our friends at Whosit & Whatsit, down on Newcastle’s Quayside.

We’re taking over the whole of their new first floor event space, and we’ve an evening of free musical entertainment on the cards – we’re bringing up our good bredrins from London, bearded musical maestro The Last Skeptik fresh off the success of his latest EP “I Don’t Even Like you” to get your heads bopping, the globe trotting, magical mouth making music machine Hobbit to get your jaws dropping and the ridiculous Rewd Adams who’s going to be performing tracks of his brand new “Hunger Pains 2″ album to get you lively! So excited by the fact we are getting these guys all up from London to perform for a new North East audience, and any AnyForty family who’ve made it to any of our events in London since 2011 will know how ridiculous these guys are. Rounding up our musical entertainment we’ve our good pal, and local DJ royalty Flint & Steel opening up and closing the nights festivities on the wheels of steel. We’ve also got our mates back from our South West days, the delicious boozy Brothers Cider to hook you guys up with a load of different flavoured ciders to set the night off on a merry tip!

It’s going to be a incredible event, the team at Whosit & Whatsit are working on a really exciting visual event space environment, something silly nice to do with the Seven theme, you’ll have to wait till the night to find out more though! Due to venue size, we’ve got to limit this to strictly no more than 60 people in at any one time, so it’s going to be first come first served on the guest list tip, if you’re not on the list, you can’t come in. So please, if you’re not local and are traveling up for this, make sure you put your name and email on the guest list here otherwise you’re just gonna hear the goodness from outside. Don’t worry, we won’t spam you or sell your email address to any Nigerian princes.

So yeah, check out the flyer below, sign up to the guest list and we shall see you on the night for all the above and much, much more!!

Additional note: We’re also extremely proud to announce our friends from Brewdog are going to be running a pop-up bar in the event space, which will be selling cans of there beautiful ale’s, Punk IPA and Dead Pony Pale Ale from 7pm until 11pm. This event is gonna be the one. You do not want to sleep on it!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 27

What a incredible few months it’s been unveiling all the incredible artists and we’re quite sad because the announcements come to a end now. But without further a due, we’re incredibly excited to announce last but never, ever least artist number 27 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th and raising funds for the great charity Calm, and again, ladies and gentleman it’s a name all AnyForty fans will know…

Melbourne raised, London based artist Purdi Petunia has been down with the good ship AnyForty since Summer 2010, making her debut with her incredible hand drawn Sailor Girl design that’s one of the fastest selling AnyForty designs in our 6 year history and came back with a swift kick to the nuts in Summer 2012 as part of our Australian Invasion Series with T-world Journal, with her collaboration with Australian photographer Nick Delaney, turning the lovely Emma Summer into a beautifully detailed winged angel. Since then Purdi’s been doing her thing painting murals all over London, including two giant pieces at Translate Bar in Shoreditch, a sick huge chalk piece at Vagabond Wine Bar in Central London and has some superb stuff in the pipeline including a mural at Instagram’s London HQ (How sick is that?!! ) that’s all alongside killing it in her “day job” as lead digital designer at Central London studio Galvanize. Grafter!!  AnyForty’s very own super girl has something very special up her sleeve for this group show and we can’t wait for you to see it! Remember folks, Thursday 24th July, from 6pm at 5th Base Gallery, the fun and festivities kick off. Come along, bring your wallets (we’ll be accepting cash and cards) and support a fucking brilliant cause. Profits from sales of the prints, t-shirts and all the other goodies from Purdi and the other 26 great artists we have for sale on the night will be going to the UK charity CALM. You’re getting incredible limited edition affordable art and supporting a superb charity. What’s not to like?!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 26

Nearly at the finish line for the artist unveils folks, 25 artists unveiled , 2 left to announce and 18 sleeps to go till the show opens. So, without further a due, here’s artist number 26 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th and raising funds for the great charity Calm, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another brand new collaborator, ladies and gentleman it’s…

So Simon Freeborough is a London based printmaker and artist who’s part of the West London Art Factory collective, long story short, I actually started my professional design career as a Junior designer in a studio in Peterborough working alongside Simon way back in 2001. Fast forward 13 years and via a move to Bath, then Manchester, then London, lost touch with him completely. That was until September last year when Simon stumbled across a blog post by our longest serving stockist Urban Industry about our latest collection, and found out the person behind AnyForty was the kid he worked with back in the days and got back in touch. Anyway, got chatting a bit about what we’d been up to and checked out his prints and absolutely fell in love with them, his art looks at the disposable frills of society and transforms them into beautiful hand screen printed pieces of collectable limited edition artwork. Time was short but felt asthetically his work offered a extra dimension to our lineup so had to squeeze him in with a exclusive AnyForty colour way of one of his previous pieces. I’m sure you guys will love the striking simplicity of his work as much as I do. Welcome to the AnyForty Family Si!
