AnyForty Out And About: D*Face at Stolen Space

So one of the plus points about no longer wearing any brick and mortar retail shackles is it frees up time for inspirational activities, and personally for us, not many come more inspirational than Mr D*Face.  We missed the opening of his  “New World Disorder” exhibition at his own Stolen Space Gallery on Brick Lane, so first chance we got, rounded up some troops including our man Tom Mac to pop down and soak it all in, and damn, what a show they’ve put on.

The show is split into 3 parts (from what we found anyway, might of been another room hiding somewhere!) Entering the building next door to Stolen Space you have to enter through the most ghetto, tagged up walkway and stairwell, entering the first exhibition space, showcasing some huge D*Face pieces, some stencils and a Ron English-esque half eaten Snoopy. Second part of the show, is a black dotted wall painted screen printing room, and the final and our favourite part of the show is in the main Stolen Space downstairs, and features a collection of hand painted Baseball bats and helmets. Absolutely amazing.

It’s open until the 23rd of June, so if you’ve not been yet, we strongly recommend it, it is after all the last ever show to take place in this iconic building which is due to be knocked down and destroyed once this show ends. Proper end of an era stuff. For those of you outside of London and not able to see it in person, get the kettle on and browse through these shots we snapped just for thee, and if you want to know more about the show, we’re not great with wanky words so check out the Huffington Posts roundup here.

Johnny Cupcakes London Dodgeball UK Tournament 2013: We Came, We Played Hard, We Nearly Conquered!

14th June 2013 | Tags: , , ,

Ladies and Gentleman, let me introduce you to the soon to be world famous Team AnyForty Dodgeball Team! Fresh from it’s debut outing at the 2013 Johnny Cupcakes London Dodgeball UK Tournament!

Having never played dodgeball before, let alone played dodgeball together as a team, we absolutely smashed it, our international team captained by the power house from Melbourne Timba  and  fellow Australians Sarah and Ness, South African Ryan and homegrown dodgeball talent Allan and Karl did us incredibly proud and made it to the final after making easy work of 9 sweaty previous matchups, getting pipped at the last hurdle by the reigning champs and dodgeball pros Johnny Cupcakes London. Special shout to Ryan for being the last man standing against the Cupcakers!

Really fun night was had. Special shouts to Team AnyForty for smashing it, the 8 other teams who took part, Kellen and the Johnny Cupcakes London team for organising it, and our pal Boyce from the brilliant British brand Suffoca for filming for the night (look for that video via Johnny Cupcakes soon) and of course the Dodgeball UK referees. We’ll see you for next years event, and who knows Dodgeball UK, might see us fielding a AnyForty team in your midweek league

So today, we gave the keys back to the landlord, packed up what little stock we had left and headed back across to AnyForty HQ in Hackney after a incredibly successful (yet exhausting) 3 month Pop-Up store stay at Boxpark, Shoreditch.

Big ups everyone who came and visited the store in these 90 odd days, met and hung out with lots of regular family, got to put a lot of faces to familiar online names and got a shit load of new followers to the Church of AnyForty, and for that we salute each and every one of you.

Much love to our interns Lauren and Lisle for helping these last few months, you were both a incredible help and hope you enjoyed your time with us, both onto bigger and better things now, and big ups our man Dominic from Motiiv for holding fort when we needed the odd day off to catch up on non store stuff. Without you 3 we’d of been fooked.

Shout to our Boxpark family like Nhuc and Sophie from China Doll Boutique,  Nathan from Abuze London, Mikey from OnePiece, Simon from Etc, Sigourney and Calum from Vans, our main man Gabrielle from Nike and Boxpark maintance geeza Allan, we’re gonna miss you all so much but extra special shout out to our newest mates, collaborators and Boxpark neighbours Hospital Records, made our last month thoroughly enjoyable. Those guys still got two weeks left so swing through and show em some love, we know we’ll be down on a Monday for there instore podcasts. Big up London Elek for the AnyForty shout out on this weeks podcast, check it out hurrrrrrr!

AnyForty Family: Introducing… Chris B. Murray

2nd June 2013 |

Yes guys! So normally we like to shout about what’s going on with artists you’ve already seen AnyForty work from, but this time, we wanted to introduce you to a brand new artist to the AnyForty family, Chris B. Murray is a sick illustrator who’s based in Philadelphia, USA, we first stumbled across his work when we saw one of our all time favourite mc’s Apathy show off  the new Demigodz album artwork on instagram and we were blown away,  so we instantly got on the case and commissioned Chris up to create a design for our upcoming Autumn/Winter 13 range (which drops September 28th) wait till you see what he’s produced, will blow your minds into another universe!

Until then, our man Chris has a solo show, in fact his very first solo show where he has produced a brand new body of work specifically for the show. So his show ADKS opens at Rotofugi Gallery in Chicago this Friday until the end of June, and as we send a lot of product out to the USA, we wanted to let all our American fam know what’s going on, and if your in the Midwest or planning a holiday to the states, then take a trip to the gallery and check out this incredible artists work, will be well worth it! Check out a few sneak peeks of what’s on display below…
