#AnyFortyFamily: New Rule Collectives “Come Out To Play” exhibition…

Last night we left the comfort of working in our home studio in Hackney for the mayhem of Thursday night in Shoreditch, where every gallery seems to have a show launching, the whole area is constantly rammo with people on the hunt for free booze and good art. So much going on last night including the opening of the new Rone show “Wallflower” at Stolen Space Gallery and the private viewing of the latest instalment of the Secret 7″ show at Mother, London.  BUT, with 5 AnyForty artists creating new work for the New Rule Collective‘s Warriors inspired show “Come Out To Play” at 5th Base Gallery, just off the curry mafia end of Brick Lane, there was only one place we were gonna be!

So squeezing into a packed gallery, went in to check out exactly what AnyForty Family, Mr Penfold, Tom Mac, Robin Boyden, 45RPM and Mr Gauky had been up to. All 5 had cooked up some incredible work, Penfold’s was straight up trademark classic Mr P, the depth of Robin Boyden’s Hurricanes piece, you could stand at look at it for hours and 45′s stained glass inspired piece just jumped out from a mile away but extra props go to Gauky and Tom Mac, as a added bonus they both took their work off the canvas and into sculptural form, Gauky’s baseball fury bat weapons painted in livid lime green and lilac with sharp nails and cutting barbed wire pretruding with matching hand painted baseballs looked bloody incredible, and Tom Mac’s hand painted bull skull was surrounded all night long, I know it’s the first time we’ve seen a bull skull like that in the flesh/bone and the detailing on it was superb. Nice to see Tom do something totally unexpected and different from his standard digital stuff he’s becoming well known for. Always good to step out your comfort zone in whatever you do in life!

Check out some of our pics from the event below, show officially opens today (11th April) and runs until 17th April, also features great work from the likes of Shotopop, Tom J Newell, Boneface, and many more! So get your self along and check it out in the flesh (minus all the reflections off the glass frames we managed to catch on camera). Great job to Croz for putting on a sick show. Now to dig out The Warriors DVD and give it a rewatch…

#AnyFortyFamily: 24 Hours in the Life of Rick Nunn

31st March 2014 | Tags: , , , ,

If you’re a AnyForty social media regular you’ll be more than familiar with the name Rick Nunn. Rick handles all our lookbook photography, regularly trundling down from Lincoln to London to create magical images for us. And the day after he shot our Chapter 02 lookbook, he set back off into London from the AnyForty offices in Hackney with fellow AnyForty Family Gavin Strange aka Jam Factory to star in Gather.Ly and Cannon‘s  new project “24 Hours”

Basic brief was Gather.Ly briefed 3 extremely talented young British photographers to spend 24 hours in a different European city and shoot some rad images. Phoebe Cheong got Paris & Lee Kirby got Barcelona.

Rick’s challenge was set on home turf in London and he decided to work with the model agency Mode to shoot a stunning young lady in a beautiful overgrown, derelict London location. Anyway, enough with the words, watch the video below produced by our boy Gav to see Mr Nunn hard at work sporting our new AnyForty x Mr Bowlegs tee, and scroll further down to see the final jaw dropping images.

Incredible work as always from a extremely talented and absolutely lovely fella!

#AnyFortyFamily: The MEGAMUNDEN Show, Opening Night Viewing

7th March 2014 | Tags: , , ,

So last Friday we jumped on the train from London Bridge and headed down to Brighton with our friends at Galvanize Digital Solutions for the evening to check out the opening night of the incredible new solo show from AnyForty Family Ollie Munden aka MEGAMUNDEN. Don’t want to give away too much about The MEGAMUNDEN Show, so here’s a small selection of pics from the night, the rest you’ll have to see in person!

So great to see Ollie taking his work off the canvas and onto 3d objects, the painted ladies head, the guitar, the laster etched skate deck, the handmade leather collaborations with Raw & Auburn all so rad, but absolutely fell in love with the painted praying hands, if we had a spare few hundred quid would of snapped them up instantly, incredible stuff! The show runs at No Walls Gallery in Brighton until March 22nd, we heavily recommend a visit down to see it in person. Great show, great gallery, go get inspired! Oh and if you can’t make it to Brighton, you can hit up No Walls online store to buy some pieces from the night.

#AnyFortyFamily: The MEGAMUNDEN Show

24th February 2014 | Tags: ,

This Friday, the 28th February sees the opening of long time AnyForty collaborator Ollie Munden aka MEGAMUNDEN‘s  ’The MEGAMUNDEN Show’, marking the opening show of the brand spanking new No Walls building in Brighton whilst acting as the perfect follow up to the worldwide success of his ‘The Tattoo Colouring Book‘ – the Brighton based illustrator’s first mainstream book, published in 2013 by Laurence King Publishing, following on from his 2012 AnyForty Presents MEGAMUNDEN book that we self published that was limited to 100 copies and sold out faster than a Beyonce peep show.

The MEGAMUNDEN show is gonna be chocka block full of American and Japanese influenced tattoo styles, a further progression of our mans this signature style, basically if you loved his book, you’ll love this exhibition. Taking the art out of the pages and seamlessly integrating his detailed illustration style onto sculpture, leather products, fabric and even musical instruments.

Included in the exhibition are collaborations with Raw & Auburn, Lazerian, Pedro Oyarbide, Shaun Swainland & Jeff Nichols.

We’re taking the trip down from London to Brighton on t’train to check it out in the flesh, so if you can’t make it, stay tuned for a full round up on this right here blog on the weekend, if you can make it down, keep a eye out and say hello!

Check out some sneak peeks of the night below, looks rad…
