T-shirts Unfolding, Canterbury Museum, February – May 2015, Christchurch, New Zealand.

23rd March 2015 | Tags: , , ,

We are super honoured to have a selection of our AnyForty designs in the incredible exhibition that is T-shirts Unfolding curated by our down under pal, the T-shirt megalord Eddie Zammit of T-world  journal fame.

T-shirts Unfolding is staged as part of the  SPECTRUM street art festival, presented by Oi YOU! in partnership with the YMCA and Canterbury Museum in Christchurch, New Zealand

With two venues, eight exhibitions, nine big walls, 16 of the world’s best street artists, 22 Banksy’s and hundreds of T-shirts SPECTRUM promises to be even bigger and better than RISE which attracted 248,000 people to Canterbury Museum last summer, the most viewed exhibition in the Museum’s history.

T-shirts Unfolding showcases everything to do with T-shirt creation, from promotional stickers to swing tags, and books to the tees themselves. The show runs in Canterbury Museum until the 10th of May and is completely free to enter so you’d be a absolute fool not to check it out in the cotton!

Check out the brilliant animated promo for the event by the guys from Mass Motion and scroll down to see a selection of gorgeous photos of the exhibition by Melbourne based Holly Hawkins. Still blows our mind to see AnyForty alongside so many legendary world famous brands, thanks to Eddie Z for always having our back. Always appreciated our friend, and congratulations on another incredible show.

AnyForty Seven Launch Party at Whosit & Whatsit, Newcastle

11th March 2015 | Tags: , , , ,

Yes folks! It’s been a long time since we broke out the auld blog, for those of you who don’t know, we left London back in August last year, relocated back to the motherland, Newcastle Upon-Tyne and have spent the last few months busting our ball sacks on the graft tip.

Since the flip of the new year, we’ve been hard at work getting a incredible range of designs together to celebrate our Seventh Birthday, seven years?! Damn, where has the time gone eh.

It’s quite an achievement for a small independent UK brand to hit the seven year mark so we thought it was something to make a metric-fuck-tonne of noise about, so we’ve created a new range called, you guess it… Seven!

Seven artists from around the world tackling seven deadly sins. It’s an epic collection of wearable art and we can’t wait for you to see it, we’re so proud of it we’d like to invite you to a massive party we’re gonna throw with our friends at Whosit & Whatsit, down on Newcastle’s Quayside.

We’re taking over the whole of their new first floor event space, and we’ve an evening of free musical entertainment on the cards – we’re bringing up our good bredrins from London, bearded musical maestro The Last Skeptik fresh off the success of his latest EP “I Don’t Even Like you” to get your heads bopping, the globe trotting, magical mouth making music machine Hobbit to get your jaws dropping and the ridiculous Rewd Adams who’s going to be performing tracks of his brand new “Hunger Pains 2″ album to get you lively! So excited by the fact we are getting these guys all up from London to perform for a new North East audience, and any AnyForty family who’ve made it to any of our events in London since 2011 will know how ridiculous these guys are. Rounding up our musical entertainment we’ve our good pal, and local DJ royalty Flint & Steel opening up and closing the nights festivities on the wheels of steel. We’ve also got our mates back from our South West days, the delicious boozy Brothers Cider to hook you guys up with a load of different flavoured ciders to set the night off on a merry tip!

It’s going to be a incredible event, the team at Whosit & Whatsit are working on a really exciting visual event space environment, something silly nice to do with the Seven theme, you’ll have to wait till the night to find out more though! Due to venue size, we’ve got to limit this to strictly no more than 60 people in at any one time, so it’s going to be first come first served on the guest list tip, if you’re not on the list, you can’t come in. So please, if you’re not local and are traveling up for this, make sure you put your name and email on the guest list here otherwise you’re just gonna hear the goodness from outside. Don’t worry, we won’t spam you or sell your email address to any Nigerian princes.

So yeah, check out the flyer below, sign up to the guest list and we shall see you on the night for all the above and much, much more!!

Additional note: We’re also extremely proud to announce our friends from Brewdog are going to be running a pop-up bar in the event space, which will be selling cans of there beautiful ale’s, Punk IPA and Dead Pony Pale Ale from 7pm until 11pm. This event is gonna be the one. You do not want to sleep on it!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 27

What a incredible few months it’s been unveiling all the incredible artists and we’re quite sad because the announcements come to a end now. But without further a due, we’re incredibly excited to announce last but never, ever least artist number 27 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th and raising funds for the great charity Calm, and again, ladies and gentleman it’s a name all AnyForty fans will know…

Melbourne raised, London based artist Purdi Petunia has been down with the good ship AnyForty since Summer 2010, making her debut with her incredible hand drawn Sailor Girl design that’s one of the fastest selling AnyForty designs in our 6 year history and came back with a swift kick to the nuts in Summer 2012 as part of our Australian Invasion Series with T-world Journal, with her collaboration with Australian photographer Nick Delaney, turning the lovely Emma Summer into a beautifully detailed winged angel. Since then Purdi’s been doing her thing painting murals all over London, including two giant pieces at Translate Bar in Shoreditch, a sick huge chalk piece at Vagabond Wine Bar in Central London and has some superb stuff in the pipeline including a mural at Instagram’s London HQ (How sick is that?!! ) that’s all alongside killing it in her “day job” as lead digital designer at Central London studio Galvanize. Grafter!!  AnyForty’s very own super girl has something very special up her sleeve for this group show and we can’t wait for you to see it! Remember folks, Thursday 24th July, from 6pm at 5th Base Gallery, the fun and festivities kick off. Come along, bring your wallets (we’ll be accepting cash and cards) and support a fucking brilliant cause. Profits from sales of the prints, t-shirts and all the other goodies from Purdi and the other 26 great artists we have for sale on the night will be going to the UK charity CALM. You’re getting incredible limited edition affordable art and supporting a superb charity. What’s not to like?!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 26

Nearly at the finish line for the artist unveils folks, 25 artists unveiled , 2 left to announce and 18 sleeps to go till the show opens. So, without further a due, here’s artist number 26 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th and raising funds for the great charity Calm, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another brand new collaborator, ladies and gentleman it’s…

So Simon Freeborough is a London based printmaker and artist who’s part of the West London Art Factory collective, long story short, I actually started my professional design career as a Junior designer in a studio in Peterborough working alongside Simon way back in 2001. Fast forward 13 years and via a move to Bath, then Manchester, then London, lost touch with him completely. That was until September last year when Simon stumbled across a blog post by our longest serving stockist Urban Industry about our latest collection, and found out the person behind AnyForty was the kid he worked with back in the days and got back in touch. Anyway, got chatting a bit about what we’d been up to and checked out his prints and absolutely fell in love with them, his art looks at the disposable frills of society and transforms them into beautiful hand screen printed pieces of collectable limited edition artwork. Time was short but felt asthetically his work offered a extra dimension to our lineup so had to squeeze him in with a exclusive AnyForty colour way of one of his previous pieces. I’m sure you guys will love the striking simplicity of his work as much as I do. Welcome to the AnyForty Family Si!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 25

23 days to go till the show kicks off, and still unveiling artists, better get a crack on! So folks get ready for the unveiling of artist number 25 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another artist AnyForty regulars will be more than aware of, ladies and gentleman it’s…

Sprinkles is a incredibly sick artist we first stumbled across in 2012 via his good mate and AnyForty Family Dale Bigeni, and as soon as we saw his work, knew we had to collaborate with him, and collaborate we did, Sprinkles blessing us with a incredible design as part of our Chapter 01 range. Sprinkles is a self taught contemporary artist and tattooer based in Sydney, who’s canvas is skin, paper, walls, basically whatever dude can draw on he will. Deadly with a needle, pen, paint brush or paint can. No stopping our man from creating art! Super stoked to have him on board the good train AnyForty for this Charity Group Show, such a sick trademark style, you’re gonna love what he’s created. Much love fella look forward to making it to Sydney some day and getting a permanent collaboration from you!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 24

Sunday ain’t a day of rest in the AnyForty towers, so buckle up and get ready for the unveiling of artist number 24 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another artist AnyForty regulars will be more than aware of, ladies and gentleman it’s…

Philadelphia based Chris B Murray doesn’t need any introduction to the AnyForty die hards, he only came on board the good ship AnyForty in our first Chapter collection, with his incredible space horror tee after we stumbled across his artwork in the underground east coast hip hop scene, dude’s done some incredible stuff for one of our favourite ever mc’s Connecticut artist Apathy and has hooked any one who’s stumbled across his work ever since. Such a incredible style of illustration, always packed with sick little details, but for us, what really blows our mind is the way dude colours his work up, really brings his work alive. We’ve loads of stuff in the pipeline with Chris for the future, he’s already created the cover art for our AnyForty Six book which is dropping in November this year and contains all artwork from 6 full years of artist collaborations, we’re also working on another few top secret bits that will blow your minds. Great artist, great fella and to top it off a complete hip hop geek just like us, we spend most our time chatting about hip hop rather than artwork. Anyway, super stoked to have Chris involved in this great event for a great cause, with Chris and all the other incredible artists really bringing there “A” games, we’re gonna make a truckload full of cash for Calm!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 23

Onto the final 4 unveils from the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another of our very special guest artists, ladies and gentle fellows it’s…

So unbelievably stoked to have Liverpool born Adrian Johnson involved in this charity group show, been a big fan of his striking, character based work for a long ass time and have been lucky enough to have worked with him in previous non-AnyForty jobs before. It’s great to continue seeing him going from strength to strength, his bold, considered graphic art is constantly evolving, guess in the streetwear world Adrian is most known for the series of tees he released with streetwear giants Stussy in 2012, check this video interview out here, and most recently his Tour De France posters for Transport For London have blown up with well deserved social media hype. Couple that with a client list containing the likes of Paul Smith, Adidas, Stüssy, Monocle, The New York Times, Volkswagen and Unicef, you know Adrian is a exciting addition to our show. Give Adrian a warm welcome to the AnyForty Family folks! We can’t wait to see what he cooks up!  Remember peoples, Thursday, 24th July is the opening night at 5th Base Gallery, get down and grab some of these affordable limited edition prints from great artists for a great cause, remember all profits will be going to the uk based charity CALM so make sure you’re down to spend and support!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 22

Onto the final week of artist unveils, and onto number 22 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another of the AnyForty Family, lasses and fellas it’s…

Yes folks! After all the work we’ve done with Tom Mac these last few years, you’d be a fool if you didn’t expect to see his name pop up at some stage in the artist unveils for this exhibition! For the AnyForty regulars, Tom really doesn’t need any introductions, for those of you who’ve just escaped the bermuda triangle, been released from a 5 year stretch or one of those unlucky people who’ve just stumbled across the good ship AnyForty, then homegrown talent Mr Mac is the young man behind our world famous Pride graphic, as well as many more incredible designs like our Hospital Records link up and our panther initially created for the NEXT exhibition in Sydney amongst other now long gone sold out gems. We can only say how excited and happy we are to continue our working relationship with him, when AnyForty & Tom Mac link up, there’s never any disappointments, always sick stuff, trust!  Big up’s Tom!!! People make sure you’re at 5th Base Gallery on Thursday 24th July 6pm, ready to grab Tom’s latest piece of art alongside the other amazing 26 artists. One month tomorrow, we can’t bloody wait!!!

AnyForty Charity Group Show: Artist Unveil 21

No rest on weekends, and we’re back quick smart with unveil number 21 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Charity Group show taking place at 5th Base Gallery, London from July 24th until July 27th, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another of our brand new guest artists, ladies and gents it’s…

Now you know those people who regularly chat about being a  jack of all trades, master of none? Well Radim Malinic aka Brand Nu, without blowing copious amounts of smoke up his bum, is jack of all trades, master of em all! Very rarely you’ll come across a artist these days that is so bloody good in the 3 main elements of the commercial design game, i.e typography, graphic design and illustration, you’ll regularly find incredible illustrators who’ve no idea how to lay out body copy, and you’ll find graphic designers who haven’t got a clue how to create even the simplest vector traced illustration, well one quick look at Brand Nu’s impressive online folio and you’ll soon release how much of a one man studio this Czech born fella is, projects bounce around with ease yet contain that trademark Brand Nu doused in colour look, everything from custom typographical creations for magazine covers and exhibitions , to packaging for iced coffee and alcohol, back to jaw dropping album covers then sliding over to custom credit card designs, then leaping over to slick websites, dropping into lavish photoshop illustrations and bouncing over to crisp clean branding for businesses, artists and events. Dude can honestly do it all, oh and to really top it all off, he somehow finds time to run the brilliant online magazine Colourspaces which interviews creatives from all over the world in all disciples, dj’s, illustrators, photographers, desingers the lot. Well worth a bookmark. We finally met up with Radim at The Meat event we both spoke at up in Aberdeen 3 weekends ago, and instantly clicked, we had to work together, this is the first of two projects you’ll see from us. Watch this space. Welcome to the AnyForty Family Radim pal, honoured to have you involved sir!
