#AnyFortyFamily: The MEGAMUNDEN Show, Opening Night Viewing

7th March 2014 | Tags: , , ,

So last Friday we jumped on the train from London Bridge and headed down to Brighton with our friends at Galvanize Digital Solutions for the evening to check out the opening night of the incredible new solo show from AnyForty Family Ollie Munden aka MEGAMUNDEN. Don’t want to give away too much about The MEGAMUNDEN Show, so here’s a small selection of pics from the night, the rest you’ll have to see in person!

So great to see Ollie taking his work off the canvas and onto 3d objects, the painted ladies head, the guitar, the laster etched skate deck, the handmade leather collaborations with Raw & Auburn all so rad, but absolutely fell in love with the painted praying hands, if we had a spare few hundred quid would of snapped them up instantly, incredible stuff! The show runs at No Walls Gallery in Brighton until March 22nd, we heavily recommend a visit down to see it in person. Great show, great gallery, go get inspired! Oh and if you can’t make it to Brighton, you can hit up No Walls online store to buy some pieces from the night.

This Friday, the 28th February sees the opening of long time AnyForty collaborator Ollie Munden aka MEGAMUNDEN‘s  ’The MEGAMUNDEN Show’, marking the opening show of the brand spanking new No Walls building in Brighton whilst acting as the perfect follow up to the worldwide success of his ‘The Tattoo Colouring Book‘ – the Brighton based illustrator’s first mainstream book, published in 2013 by Laurence King Publishing, following on from his 2012 AnyForty Presents MEGAMUNDEN book that we self published that was limited to 100 copies and sold out faster than a Beyonce peep show.

The MEGAMUNDEN show is gonna be chocka block full of American and Japanese influenced tattoo styles, a further progression of our mans this signature style, basically if you loved his book, you’ll love this exhibition. Taking the art out of the pages and seamlessly integrating his detailed illustration style onto sculpture, leather products, fabric and even musical instruments.

Included in the exhibition are collaborations with Raw & Auburn, Lazerian, Pedro Oyarbide, Shaun Swainland & Jeff Nichols.

We’re taking the trip down from London to Brighton on t’train to check it out in the flesh, so if you can’t make it, stay tuned for a full round up on this right here blog on the weekend, if you can make it down, keep a eye out and say hello!

Check out some sneak peeks of the night below, looks rad…

Our first dabble into self-publishing our own books was 2011′s Teeology , which chronicled all our artwork from 2008-2010.
To this day we still regularly get comments on Twitter from illustrators and artists who use this book on the regular for inspiration.

Been a while since Teeology dropped, and we thought we’d hit you guys up with another brand-new book before
Teeology 2 drops the end of the year.

So first, in a new series of books we’re going to spotlight one of our artist’s work over 80 beautiful pages, featuring exclusively shot photography, behind-the-scenes sketches and lots and lots of sick designs ranging from murals and illustrations to tattoos and tee designs.

First up, a great friend of ours and a man who’s built up a massively impressive collection of work for you all to look at. Mr Ollie Munden aka MEGAMUNDEN!

We’re heading down to Brighton on Saturday to shoot the exclusive in-studio images for the book. And then it’s off to print early next week.
Looking at an ‘on sale’ date of Monday 13th February, 100 hand-numbered editons are available, and will cost you lot a bargain £12.50.

As with the Teeology book and the calendars, we don’t expect this one to hang around for long.

Meat Liquor: MegaMunden & iLoveDust

12th November 2011 | Tags: , , , ,

Friday night saw us link up with AnyForty fam MegaMunden to go to the opening night of a brand new diner, bang in central London called Meat Liquor.

Meat Liquor is basically an American-type diner that’s just opened, selling burgers, fried chicken, all that healthy shite. It was started by two fellas selling burgers out the back of a converted ambulance, pop-up style, then gained a cult following and even popped up recently on that fat-tongued Jamie Oliver’s new program (the one where he’s actually talking about making food, not trying to stop fat American kids eating pizza for breakfast).

Meat Liqour certainly looks destined for big things. Whenever we have visitors in town, this is gonna be the first spot we take them to. Very impressive venue. Like a serial killer’s kitchen; dark, moody, red lighting, drippy/scratchy black and grey artwork with splashes of blood red make this place crazy unique. In all honesty, we only went along to look at the artwork, but sampled a few burgers and booze, and my God, that’s some good food. Trust.

Mega painted the whole interior of the eatery as part of his full-time job with the sick illustration agency iLoveDust. We’re obsessed with iLoveDust’s work – they’re definitely up there as one of the world’s best studios, and they hail from the UK. Bring it!

Here’s some drunkenly taken iPhone instagram pics of the night. We’re waiting to cop a new camera so we can go and document all the stuff we get up to in London in better detail for you guys to check out. The pics obviously don’t do it justice.

Here’s a video teefed from Time Out’s youtube channel of the two fellas who set up Meat Liquor explaining what their spot is all about. If you’re in London, we definitely recommend checking it out. Very, very cool!
