AnyForty Versus Exhibition 2014: Artist Unveil 14 of 25

Back with the quickness and hitting you square in the face with a erect owl wing comes artist unveil number 14 of 25 of the incredible lineup of worldwide artists who’ve donated their time and skills for our AnyForty Versus Charity Exhibition taking place in London (venue to be announced real soon) in July, and again, in no particular order, proud to announce another artist who’ll be more than familiar to the AnyForty die hards, lasses and fellas it’s…

London based Yorkshire bred owl luver Mr Gauky is a artist who’s been a bit of a AnyForty regular for a while now, first cooking up a piece for us in 2010′s AnyForty Charity Exhibition in Bristol, then smashing a boss eyed British Bulldog out the park as part of our Blood, Sweat & 5 Years collection last summer.  Well known for his work in the skateboarding communuty (Gauky is the man behind many a incredible skate deck from the likes of SuperDead skateboards) Their is no one else with a illustration style like Gauky’s, his kooky character heavy work graces everything from 3 inch vinyl toys to 30 foot high walls and in the London group show scene you don’t have to go far to see a Gauky piece stealing the show, like the rad baseball bat weapon installation we spotted at the recent Warriors inspired Come Out To Play Show by the New Rule Collective.

Super stoked to have Gauky on board the good ship AnyForty again and can’t wait to see what he cooks up for the show!

#AnyFortyFamily: New Rule Collectives “Come Out To Play” exhibition…

Last night we left the comfort of working in our home studio in Hackney for the mayhem of Thursday night in Shoreditch, where every gallery seems to have a show launching, the whole area is constantly rammo with people on the hunt for free booze and good art. So much going on last night including the opening of the new Rone show “Wallflower” at Stolen Space Gallery and the private viewing of the latest instalment of the Secret 7″ show at Mother, London.  BUT, with 5 AnyForty artists creating new work for the New Rule Collective‘s Warriors inspired show “Come Out To Play” at 5th Base Gallery, just off the curry mafia end of Brick Lane, there was only one place we were gonna be!

So squeezing into a packed gallery, went in to check out exactly what AnyForty Family, Mr Penfold, Tom Mac, Robin Boyden, 45RPM and Mr Gauky had been up to. All 5 had cooked up some incredible work, Penfold’s was straight up trademark classic Mr P, the depth of Robin Boyden’s Hurricanes piece, you could stand at look at it for hours and 45′s stained glass inspired piece just jumped out from a mile away but extra props go to Gauky and Tom Mac, as a added bonus they both took their work off the canvas and into sculptural form, Gauky’s baseball fury bat weapons painted in livid lime green and lilac with sharp nails and cutting barbed wire pretruding with matching hand painted baseballs looked bloody incredible, and Tom Mac’s hand painted bull skull was surrounded all night long, I know it’s the first time we’ve seen a bull skull like that in the flesh/bone and the detailing on it was superb. Nice to see Tom do something totally unexpected and different from his standard digital stuff he’s becoming well known for. Always good to step out your comfort zone in whatever you do in life!

Check out some of our pics from the event below, show officially opens today (11th April) and runs until 17th April, also features great work from the likes of Shotopop, Tom J Newell, Boneface, and many more! So get your self along and check it out in the flesh (minus all the reflections off the glass frames we managed to catch on camera). Great job to Croz for putting on a sick show. Now to dig out The Warriors DVD and give it a rewatch…

#AnyFortyFamily: Mr Penfold, Tom Mac, Robin Boyden, 45RPM and Mr Gauky star in the New Rule Collectives “Come Out To Play” exhibition and book

Whole gang of AnyForty artists including Mr Penfold, Tom Mac, Robin Boyden, 45RPM and Mr Gauky are involved in this exhibition of brand new themed work put together by the New Rule Collective alongside a gang of other superb artists. In total 24 artists and illustrators have come together to create unique one off pieces of work inspired by the cult movie The Warriors. The pieces will be sold as prints at an exhibition that’s taking part at the 5th Base Gallery near Brick Lane in East London from April 11 to 17 2014 and every piece will also appear in an A5 book that’s currently being funded through a Kickstarter campaign, which has already hit and exceeded its target. Well done lads, looks rad! We’ll be there for the opening night on Thursday 10th April, so London heads see you all down there!

AnyForty “Blood, Sweat & 5 Years” Unveil #1: Brand new designs!

5th March 2013 | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

So today, we are officially 10 calendar days away from launching our new Blood, Sweat & 5 Years collection, launching in our new Boxpark store , online and nationwide in all our lovely wholesale accounts. Friday 15th is the day we put all our eggs in one basket attack the streetwear market with a metal baseball bat to the noggin.

Basic jist of this Blood, Sweat & 5 Years collection, is we’re celebrating 5 bloody tough years, which has seen this one man run business consistently grow year in, year out, in incredibly shit financial times, it hasn’t been easy and not even going to pretend it has been!

Soooooooo, celebrating 5 years, we wanted to bring back a couple of classic designs that we released years ago, designs a lot of you guys might of missed first time around. So this range sees 7 tee designs from the past (2 of them Boxpark store exclusives) re-released in a exclusive new tonal blood red colour pallet and they will sit alongside 4 brand new tee designs, 2 new branded crewneck designs (which will come in 3 colours each) a branded premium zip hood (2 colour ways) and 2 sick snapbacks produced for us by our mates at King Apparel.

To kick off the show, let us introduce you to the brand new tees you’ll be able to buy on the 15th March!

First up, the classic typography that forms the backbone of this new range, Blood, Sweat & 5 Years crafted by the magic hands of André Beato which is available on a white and a black tee.

Next up, a brand new design by a studio we’ve worked with before, but never on garments, so new to the AnyForty tee game, first we have the incredibly imaginative VanilaBCN crew from Spain!

And another artist who’s been involved in the AnyForty family, but never graced a tee yet, Huddersfield’s very own, the man, the myth Mr Gauky!

And last but not least, our very own in house artist Tom Mac finally releases this design we previously crafted for the world famous Mr Eddie Zammit and his NEXT exhibition of 2011 in Sydney, Australia. Been a lot of people wanting this design to drop on UK shores so here you go, we listened to ya!

That’s all for today, come back on Friday 8th March for the second unveil, showing the 7 blasts from the past we’re re-releasing for the very first and last time. Perhaps if your bored hit us up on Facebook or Twitter and try and guess what they are!
